This story's theme is deception.The main character Mary Maloney killed her husband who wanted to leave her maybe because of he had fall in love with another girl.Mary Maloney, being a loving and caring wife at first had became a cunning woman with an astute, sharp and clever mind.After she killed her husband she was very calm and acts innocent calling upon the police. She did not shed a single tear when her husband which shows that she totally transformed into a different woman whom did not love her husband anymore.
